Designer and illustrator from Cologne
Peter Pichler, born in Cologne in 1961, is a German-Austrian designer and illustrator. He studied Communication Design at Bergische Universität Wuppertal. In order to finance his studies, he started drawing cyclopaedic insect illustrations which are still in use today as graphic training aids the world over. In 2006, he founded the design studio U-53 in Cologne, where he develops design concepts for museums and corporate designs for trade and industry. Numerous publishers, advertising agencies, and TV production companies in Germany and abroad are among Pichler’s clients. Some of his original illustrations are held at the Storybook Museum (Bilderbuchmuseum) in Troisdorf. With a team of illustrators’ colleagues, Pichler has been co-organizer of Cologne’s Illustrators Festival since 2014. In 2016, he started lecturing at the ecosign Design Academy (ecosign / Akademie für Gestaltung) in Cologne.
