The highly awarded designer was born in 1961 in Tokyo, where he grew up before his family moved to France and later to Greece. After studying Visual Communication in Munich, he worked at Büro Rolf Müller before going to London, where he graduated with a masters degree in Graphic Design from the Central School of Art and Design. In 1989, he joined the design studio “Pentagram” in London, where he is a partner and co-owner since 1995. In 2002, he set up Pentagram’s Berlin office. Oehler’s vita and his culturally diverse upbringing are reflected in the international quality and the aesthetics of his designs. Nowadays he develops unique sujets and corporate identities of fascinating clarity, transparency, and authenticity. His international array of clients include Tiscali, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Trussardi, and the German Film Archive (Deutsche Kinemathek). In 1996, he developed the name, logo, and brand identity for the world’s largest airline alliance “Star Alliance”, whose brand consultant he remained to this day. His works are regularly featured in relevant publications and have received several awards, among others, Communication Arts, Red Dot Design Award, and NY Type Directors’ Club. Oehler was a jury member in several design competitions and a guest lecturer at a number of universities.
